Marching Green Statebound

On November 5th the Marching Green band from Piper-land will be performing in San Antonio in the State UIL Marching Band Festival. This is quite an achievement of everything a band works for during marching season. This is a culmination of all the time, effort, and preparation that these students put in starting in the latter part of the summer. Just like 2-a-days for football these students were in the band hall working on their music then hitting the practice field to start to put together their show. For those that aren't in band and have never marched this is work with a capital W! The show is put together in pieces with the whole coming together a few weeks or less before contest. Bands are judged not only on musicality but on how straight lines and diagonals are, if everyone is in step, are they together, are horns up, etc. Everything has to come together for bands to receive Division 1's. This is what the Piper band has done and it is a great compliment to not only Mr. Cross but to the dedication of the students in the band program, especially considering they hadn't marched in 10 years! Congratulations! Whatever happens on the 5th just know that Hamlin is proud of you!
